It's been a while since I wrote a journal.
First of all, I feel like my life is just routine with nothing significant happening. Secondly, it's been a long time since I went out and it's hard to take satisfactory photos. But when I think about it, there's no rule that says we have to show the beautiful side of our lives to others. Trivial matters are also part of life, right?
Let me briefly talk about what I've been up to recently.
1. Recent purchases#
1. iPhone 15 Pro#
Speaking of this, I feel ashamed. Before the Chinese New Year, I replaced the battery of my iPhone 11 because I was itching to do so. However, I ended up damaging the screen and had to spend a few hundred bucks to get it fixed.
You can check out the article I shared for more details:

I'm not sure if it's because of the battery I bought, but it stops charging at around 76% and shuts down when the battery level is around 20%. However, it's quite durable between 56% and 20% (it can last a day with light usage). Originally, I planned to make do with it and wait until the release of the iPhone 16 in September to upgrade. But coincidentally, Apple had a big promotion for International Women's Day on March 8th, and the price was reduced by 1150 yuan. The price of around 7,000 yuan made it hard for me to resist, so I went to the experience store over the weekend to try it out. Compared to my iPhone 11, it's really smooth. In the end, I couldn't resist and placed an order online for it to be delivered by a local courier.
P.S. Let me complain a bit here. This promotion only offered discounts online, and even though the displayed store was the same, I couldn't pay online and pick it up offline! I'm so angry!
2. Electric Bike#
There's only one reason for this.
It's too expensive to drive to work in Hangzhou!
If we calculate the expenses of driving to work, considering that I drive a plug-in hybrid car, in addition to the cost of fuel, we also need to consider the cost of electricity, as shown in the table below:
No. | Item | Cost |
---|---|---|
1 | Monthly parking fee | ¥360 |
2 | Fuel | ¥200 |
3 | Electricity | ¥100 |
4 | Total | ¥560 |
The monthly commuting cost is around 560 yuan, while using an electric bike and the subway only costs around 150 yuan for the subway fare and the one-time investment in the electric bike. Oh, about why I chose the electric bike and the subway, there's one more important point I haven't mentioned.
The traffic on the elevated roads in Hangzhou is unbearable.
3. Software Router (Kangxin N4515)#
I've wanted to buy this for a long time but couldn't bring myself to do it. Mainly because I wanted to set up an "All In One" system, so I bought a budget version to play with for now.
Currently, my temporary plan is to install the following tools:
- Esxi
- iKuai
- OpenWrt
- 1Panel
- Docker (DDNS to, MixSpace, Typecho)
With so many installations, I'm not sure if the performance will be sufficient. I even bought two DDR4 memory sticks and installed the 512GB Rainbow SSD that I had previously upgraded from my computer. (Let me complain a bit here, solid-state drives really need to be Western Digital. The performance of SSDs from big storage manufacturers like Samsung is truly unparalleled.)
2. Recent hobbies#
1. "Stardew Valley"#
In the past few weeks, I've been obsessed with "Stardew Valley". Although I don't know why people call it "Green Hat Valley". (It's also possible that I haven't reached that part of the story yet.) Planting crops, raising chickens and cows. It's really addictive.
I regret not planting more sunflowers in the summer, I didn't have enough to give to the village beauty.
It feels strange that in real life, I'm tired of the monotonous work routine, but in "Stardew Valley", I control my character until 6:27 every day. It really feels like being a cyber capitalist.
Conclusion#
You are a villager in Stardew Valley. You were awakened early in the morning by the sound of horse hooves.
You looked out the window and saw the new farmer riding his colorful horse again. He dismounted and started fishing in front of your house. He rushed into your house at exactly 9 o'clock in the morning, without even knocking on the door. After giving you a perfectly good mushroom, he ran away.
As you listened to the sound of the horse hooves fading away, you realized that you were starting to like him more and more.
